Work began in 2003 to develop a new facility for the Malden Y.M.C.A, a resource for many community members. The Y.M.C.A. has been serving the Malden community for over 100 years from its current facility. It is the fifth oldest Y.M.C.A. facility in the country and was in serious need of replacement. The new home for the Malden Y.M.C.A. will alleviate crowding and provide the opportunity for program development and future expandability to ensure the Y.M.C.A. will be able to serve the Malden community for the foreseeable future.

The new Y.M.C.A. opened in 2005, and is 60,000 square feet, nearly twice the size of the previous century-old building. Combined Properties has contributed approximately $450,000 towards the completion of the project as well as providing in-kind legal services and leading the developmental support.

“This is a fantastic project and a wonderful time for our Y.M.C.A.,” said Brian J. Cox, director of the Malden Y.M.C.A.

The YMCA is home to:
a 6-lane lap pool,
a 3-lane shallow therapy pool,
a teen center,
preschool and school age child care centers,
a full size gymnasium,
an indoor running track,
a fitness center,
a cardio center,
a senior fitness center,
indoor handball courts,
and too many community programs to list here.
