New Peabody Mayor’s First Address

We already know that PeabodyWorks <— See for yourself!

And it seems Peabody’s new mayor is working hard already too. Newly elected Ted Bettencourt gave his first state of the city address on January 25 at a breakfast presented by the Peabody Chamber of Commerce, expressing that he hopes to significantly boost business. Here are few of the plans he covered in the address:

  • Designate a “city ombudsman” who will help business owners through the process of starting a new business in the city.
  • Create a “doing-business-in-Peabody” booklet that features city phone numbers, permit requirements, and resources for small-business owners.
  • Form a new economic council to promote positive things happening in the community and to ultimately entice new business owners to opt for Peabody.

Bettencourt also addressed Peabody’s recent flooding, possibly plans for a new middle school, and the incredible amount of community support in response to the recent, tragic death of firefighter James Rice.
